 Copyright Gécya

Gécya, graduate professor in visual arts, is now fully devoted to painting. Seeking the interplay of paint and texture, she exploits various graphic, pictorial technics and assemblings in her figurative or abstract work. She is particularly well known  in Guadeloupe for her portraits on coco-nut tree fibres . On this canvas, a gift of nature, carefully prepared for conservation, the transition from fibres to skin of portraits of  various ethnical crossbreeds, appear as watermarks inspired by the nuances, weaving and textures. Roughness gives birth to smoothness, while capturing the emotion of a glance in its universality. The framework gives no limit in space but is part of each unique work of art. Gécya's contemporary practice gives a new look to natural materials and elements found in her environment.
